RESTORATION
My restoration work is rooted in a deep respect for material history and artisanal integrity, shaped by my upbringing in Cuba, where the tradition of preserving and repurposing objects is born out of necessity, resilience, and creativity. Growing up in a culture where things were made to last—and where repair was often the only option—I learned to see value in every detail and to honour the stories embedded in worn materials. I approach each piece with sensitivity to its original spirit, aiming not just to repair, but to reawaken its presence through careful, informed craftsmanship. Drawing from both traditional methods and a refined contemporary eye, I see restoration as a dialogue between past and present—a process that allows the soul of an object to endure and adapt. It’s a creative and curatorial act that reflects my lifelong commitment to meaningful preservation.
