Structures,

a left brain Odyssey.

I’ve realized over the years that my creative process threads a serpentine path between inspiration and construction. From a neurological point of view, brain activity that relates to rational functions of the body and is generally associated with the scientific approach resides in the left hemisphere, while the right hemisphere operates in a more intuitive and symbolic manner, this tension, I find contains a propelling quality and has brought forth in my work amongst other things different visualities, whose seeming dissimilitudes was something I questioned for a long time.

These pieces, born out of a more constructive approach are an exploration of the concept of space as experienced by the self and questions our understanding of our position in relation to the grand scheme of things, particularly in relation to the Cosmic scale. Their creation follows a pattern, the images are constructed based in a set of rules chosen for each piece, some of which are named after stars, they became vehicles capable of reaching those otherwise impossible places. With this pieces I wanted to give voice to that mystery in us that is capable to conceptualize and imagine things that are completely out of our reach.A debate, regarding the moral genesis of artworks has existed in the art world for sometime, this either or kind of approach is in my opinion counterproductive. In this mysterious complexity that is being human, it is only by embracing our fragments that we can achieve wholeness.
